5th annual Boat for Hope
Kelowna Yacht Club hosted the 5th annual Boat for Hope Saturday June 18. An event where over 200 children with disabilities were joined by their families for some adventure on the water.
More than 25 captains and skippers with their vessels took the kids and their families to 5 anchored pirate ships, for the opportunity to have the kids attack the ships with water guns and force the pirates to hand over bags filled with booty.
Kelowna Yacht Club members volunteered their efforts, boats, fuel, costumes and boat decorations for the day's events.
The Yacht Club teamed up with Variety, the children's charity, including the Boys and Girls club of Kelowna.
The festivities weren't limited to the water, the Kelowna Yacht Club provided their parking lot to be the centre for games and an entertainment stage.
The day wrapped up with a good old fashioned pirate water fight on the high seas. Overall the charity event for good cause was a success and very entertaining day to spend with our families for an adventure on the water.
